Barça and Sevilla, both unbeaten in 2022

Sunday's game at Camp Nou (9.00pm CEST) is a clash between the league's two most in-form sides since the new year kicked in

A game between Barça and Sevilla is always a big occasion and this Sunday’s 9.00pm CEST kick-off promises to be no exception. The two teams are currently vying for second place in the Liga table, but at the same neither have given up hope of catching leaders Real Madrid. Indeed, there is every reason for them to believe they are still in the title hunt, being the only two top flight teams that have yet to lose in 2022.

Barça top in 2022

Barça have by far the better record of the two, with 26 points out of a possible 30. Sevilla, in contrast, have drawn a larger percentage of their games and have collected fewer points (19) from a higher possible total (33).

And this game is at the Camp Nou and it has to be said that the Andalusians have been far less rampant when playing away from the Sánchez Pizjuán, winning just one of their six road trips and drawing the other five.

Meanwhile, Barça have a one hundred per cent record in games played at Camp Nou in 2022.

It should also be added that Sevilla have lost three games in other competitions in 2022. They were beaten once in the Copa del Rey (Betis) and twice in the Europa League (Dinamo Zagreb and West Ham). Barça, meanwhile, did lose to Athletic Club in the Copa del Rey and to Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.

Men of the moment

The only Barça player to feature in all ten league games so far this year has been goalkeeper Ter Stegen, while Sevilla’s only ever-present has been midfielder Óliver Torres, although the all-white who has racked up the most minutes in total has been former Barça man Ivan Rakitic

The highest goalscorer for either side in the league in 2022 has been Aubameyang with seven, four more than the best performer for Sevilla, Rafa Mir with three.

Barça also have a runaway leader in terms of assists. Ousmane Dembélé’s seven are considerably more than Sevilla’s best offering of Jesús Corona with two.
