Raimon Carrasco i Azemar passed away on Sunday at the age of 98 and on Tuesday the Barça family said goodbye at the Tanatori de les Corts, close to Camp Nou. The Club also organised a Memorial space so that sportspeople, family, friends and other figures were able to pay their respects to an important figure in the history of FC Barcelona - a man who occupied various positions as a director under presidents Narcís de Carreras and Agustí Montal, who was also president between 1977 and 1978 and was also the driving force behind the first fully democratic elections at the Club.

The funeral at Les Corts was attended by a delegation from FC Barcelona led by president Joan Laporta and accompanied by vice president Rafa Yuste and member of the Presidential cabinet Enric Masip. Also present were former presidents Joan Gaspart and Enric Reyna as well as figures from public and political Catalan life.

Laporta and Xavi greet the Carrasco family

Before closing its doors late afternoon, the Memorial space was attended by the Carrasco family, his six children and 12 grandchildren, who were greeted by the Club president Joan Laporta, vice presidents Rafa Yuste and Elena Fort, the director Aureli Mas and the first team coach Xavi Hernández.

President Laporta commented "today we have attended the funeral of Raimon Carrasco and the best speech I have heard at a funeral was given by Marc Carrasco, his son. Raimon Carrasco was an exemplary Barça president; he was in the post for a short time but he organised the first democratic elections and did so led by the purity of the electoral process. He was a man of great integrity and he was one of those legendary directors who, under the presidency of Agustí Montal and with Armand Carabén managing at that time, gave to Barça the idea of modern management."
