A late equaliser by Alcodiam means that Barça were denied the chance to set a new record for the best ever start to an OK Liga season. Having won all 17 games played so far, Saturday’s game ended 3-3, with an exasperating finale seeing the first team take points off the blaugrana this season.


Matias Pascual, Helder Nunes and João Rodrigues scored the goals in a game that nevertheless consolidates the team’s position as the runaway leaders in the domestic championship.

The home side from Alcoy, Valencia took the lead from a free while it took Barça a whole 29 minutes to get their first goal. Having finally found their goalscoring touch, Barça took command and went on to lead 3-1, and seemed safe with three minutes to go.

But a Gonzalo Pérez penalty three minutes from the end gave the hosts new hope, and Ferran Formatjé secured the draw in the final minute.
