UE Cornellà 1-0 Barça B: Cruel defeat

Sergi Barjuan's side dominate from start to finish but fail to score and then get punished in the dying seconds

Barça B have lost 1-0 to Cornellà despite playing a brilliant game and getting most of the chance. It looked they were going at least come away with a draw before an injury time goal meant a losing end to 2021 in a result that did no justice to what we saw on the pitch.

Rodado and Ghailan could both have put the reserves ahead in the very first minutes of the game, after which the game entered a calmer phase, but with Barça B still very much the dominant force and the same two players having further chances before the goalless first half was up.

After the restart, Cornellà started causing more trouble although Arnau Tenas was rarely tested to the full and it was still Barça B who were coming closest to scoring. Guillem Jaime and Ghailan had the best chances, but with time running out, it looked like they were only going to get a single point to show for their efforts.

And then came calamity in the dying seconds of the game when Pepe Bernal latched onto a loose ball in the Barça area and inflicted the cruellest of defeats in the final game before the festive break.
