Barça Academy Instagram account surpasses one and a half million followers

The project has over two and a half million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and the global channels

Barça Academy have achieved a new social network milestone, with their Instagram account (www.instagram.com/barcaacademy) having surpassed the one and a half million follower mark. FC Barcelona’s sports schools project, with 40 centres currently in operation worldwide, has over two and a half million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vkontact (Russia), and Weibo and Wechat (China) for the individual academies and the global channels.

On surpassing one and a half million followers, Instagram is the global platform with more Barça Academy followers (www.instagram.com/barcaacademy), followed by the Facebook account (www.facebook.com/barcaacademy), with 184,200, with Twitter (www.twitter.com/barcaacademy) very close behind with 182,300.

The period from June 2018 to date has seen the largest percentage growth in Instagram account followers, increasing from 70,900 to currently 1,502,000, growing by 2018.5%, or in other words, their fanbase is now 20 times larger. During the same period, both the Barça Academy global Facebook and Twitter accounts have practically doubled their subscribers, from 96,300 to 184,200 in Facebook (a 91.3% increase) and 94,600 to 182,300 in Twitter (a 92.7% increase).

The significant growth in the Instagram account in recent months goes hand in hand with the increase in sportspeople from the Barça Academy (previously FCBEscola) starting to debut in first teams in major leagues around the world, including Eric García or Jana Fernández (Barça Escola Barcelona) in the FC Barcelona first teams, Takehiro Tomiyasu (Barça Academy Fukuoka) at Arsenal, Matthew Hoppe (Barça Residency Academy Arizona) at RCD Mallorca, Caden Clark (Barça Residency Academy Arizona) at New York Red Bulls and Enes Sali (Barça Escola Barcelona) with the Romania national team, aged just 15 years old.
