Albert Capellas to coach Barça B

Current assistant director of youth football to take charge for forthcoming games while Sergi Barjuan is coaching the senior team

FC Barcelona has announced this Thursday that Sergi Barjuan will be the new coach of the senior team, where he will be assisted by Felip Ortiz. His previous position as coach of Barça B will now be filled by Albert Capellas, the current assistant director of youth football, for this Friday’s game (9.00pm CEST) in Linares in the Primera RFEF Footers. Capellas will be assisted by the third coach of Barça B, Albert Peris.

Albert Capellas was born in Avignon on 1 October 1967, and was at Barça B from 1999 to 2003 as assistant to Quique Costas. He was then the club’s coordinator of youth football until 2010, when he left to assist with the coaching at Vitesse, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Borussia Dortmund, Brondby and Chongqing Dangdai Lifan, and as coach of the Denmark U21 team until June 2021
