Recognition of a historic achievement

Alexia, Paños, Paredes and Jenni Hermoso all receive their UEFA awards from last season at the Estadi Johan Cruyff

Before the game between Barça and Arsenal that opened the Champions League group stage this season at the Estadi Johan Cruyff there were awards for several blaugranes from last season's historic campaign in the competition.

Alexia Putellas (UEFA Women's Player of the Year and Champions League Midfielder of the season), Sandra Paños (Champions League Goalkeeper of the season), Irene Paredes (Champions League Defender of the season) and Jenni Hermoso (Champions League Striker of the season) received their awards on the field from Nadine Kessler, chief of Women's Football at UEFA.

At the Estadi Johan Cruyff there was a real sense of occasion and the players received a great ovation before the game. Also present was FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta, leading the Club's representatives in the Directors' Box.
