Luuk de Jong 'ready to score goals'

FC Barcelona's new striker talks to TV3 about what he expects to add to the first team frontline

Luuk de Jong has been at Barça for two weeks, but still hasn’t had the chance to make his debut. This weekend he has been speaking to Catalan TV3 about what he hopes to do for the club this season.

Barça transfer market

Big man up front

“I know I won’t play every game. I might be a Plan B, for tactical variations. I’m good with my head if we want to try high crosses into the area … I can also play as a target man up front.”

"I’ve scored goals in big games before so I know I can do it. It doesn’t matter who we are playing. I can be dangerous and I’m always ready to score goals. And I can do that at Barça too."

Memphis

“I’m hoping to connect well with Memphis. He’s a very good player. He’s very creative and will give me good passes and crosses. And he score goals of his own too.

Legendary predecessors

“It is an honour for me to be taking the locker that Leo Messi has left vacant … My footballing idol was Thierry Henry. He was a different kind of footballer to me. He made it look easy. He scored lots of goals, and nice ones too.”
