Opening ceremony of the Peña Barcelonista Viriato de Zamora

The official inauguration of a supporters’ club is one of the most important events in the life of these entities. For this reason, Josep Ignasi Macià, member of the Board of Directors of FC Barcelona, wanted to travel to Castilla y León to be with the supporters of the Peña Barcelonista Viriato de Zamora, who were also celebrating their first anniversary as an official supporters’ club. August 7th was the day set for the celebration, which took place following all current safety measures, albeit their soul was intact.

The opening ceremony began with a visit to their headquarters where, in addition to Josep Ignasi Macià, the president of the supporters’ club, José Luís Mena, also attended along with the former player and member of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors Ricardo Serna and other members of the movement of Blaugrana supporters, such as the president of the Federation of Peñas de Madrid, Esteban García, and the president of the PB Pep Ventura de Badalona, Sergi Mas. The members of the delegation cut the traditional ribbon that officially declared the venue of the Peña Barcelonista Viriato de Zamora open.

A meal to celebrate the first anniversary

After the visit to the penya's social club and its inauguration, the attendees went to a local restaurant to celebrate their first year of life with the supporters. During the meal, the traditional anniversary cake and the exchange of gifts could not have been left out. During his speech, the president of the Peña Barcelonista Viriato de Zamora showed gratitude for the presence of the Blaugrana director. Ricardo Serna also wanted to congratulate the supporters’ club in his speech, also on behalf of the Agrupació Barça Jugadors. To conclude the formal ceremony, Josep Ignasi Macià wanted to encourage this young penya to keep promoting Barcelona and its values in the territory, despite being far from Camp Nou.
