Barça Women 2021/22 season under way

The Barça Women 2021/22 season is under way after the squad began work on Monday at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. The treble champions from last season met at the Club's medical services to undergo antibody tests before bring split into two groups, one undergoing fitness and health checks, the other working out on the training field. 

New coach Jonatan Giráldez took his first session as boss with new signing Irene Paredes and Ingrid Engen also present. Claudia Pina is back from loan at Sevilla and the rest of the group was made up of players from the B team: Meritxell Muñoz, María Molina, Ari Mingueza, Berta Bou, Ornella Vignola and Julia Bartel.

Laia Codina and Candela Andújar were missing with the Club's permission as they seek to resolve their futures. Lieke Martens, Fridiolina Rolfö and Giovan Queiroz are all taking part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo with their national teams. 

The Barça Women squad will continue to train this week until Thursday at the Ciutat Esportiva before moving on to a preseason training camp in Alicante. On 4 August they have a friendly against Elche before the Gamper game against Juventus on 8 August at Camp Nou.
