Sergio Agüero's FC Barcelona links
FC Barcelona's new striker Sergio Agüero has already enjoyed a long and distinguished career in football and during that time, at both club and international level, he he has coincided with various FC Barcelona figures. Let's take a look.
Club Independiente
At the start of his career at Independiente in Argentina, 'Kun' Agüero made his debut at the age of just 15 in the same fixture that was former Barça defender Gabi Milito's final game for the club before making the move to European football.
In his first three years with the Argentine club his coach was none other than César Luis Menotti, the Barça boss in the 1983/84 season in which the Club claimed the Copa del Rey, the Copa del Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.
Atlético Madrid
During his five seasons in the capital with Atlético he also played alongside former blaugranes Simao Sabrosa from 2007 to 2011, Thiago Motta (2007-08), Luis García (2007-09) and in his final season in 2010/11 he also played alongside La Masia product Fran Mérida.
Manchester City
In 10 seasons with the Premier League the Argentine striker shared a dressing room with Yaya Touré (2011-18), a young Denis Suárez (2011-13), Claudio Bravo (2016-20) and Nolito (2016-17).
Not forgetting, of course, Agüero played under former FC Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola for the last fives seasons of his career in Manchester from 2016 to 2021 and along fellow Barça new boy Eric Garcia.
Argentine national team
Finally, it goes without saying that 'Kun' Agüero has played alongside Leo Messi at all levels for the Argentine national team. The duo played together in the U20 World Cup winning squad in 2005 and in the goal medal winning Olympic team in Beijing in 2008. All together they have featured in three World Cups and four Copas América together and the pair are looking forward to a fifth Copa América together later this month in Brazil.
Furthermore, he also featured for many year in the national team alongside the likes of Javier Mascherano, Juan Román Riquelme, Javier Saviola and Gabi Milito.
For Argentina he also has played under two coaches with a blaugrana past; Diego Armando Maradona between 2008 and 2010 and Gerardo 'Tata' Martino from 2014 to 2016.
