The 2022 Spanish Super Cup has a Clásico

One of the semi finals of the competition will be between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid

There will be a Clásico in the 2022 edition of the Spanish Super Cup. FC Barcelona and Real Madrid will meet in the competition at the semi finals stages as winners of the 2021 Copa del Rey and runners up in La Liga 2020/21 respectively. 

Barça claimed the cup on 17 April thanks to a 4-0 victory over Athletic Club and the Basques will be present in the 2022 Spanish Super Cup in the other semi-final against La Liga champions Atlético Madrid.

Barça have 96 wins against Real Madrid in all competitions. At the start of the season the two club were tied with regards to the number of victories in the fixture but Real Madrid's two wins in the 2020/21 La Liga campaign puts them 98-96 ahead in El Clásico.

Barça have scored 401 goals against Real Madrid, the most recent of which came from defender Òscar Mingueza. The defender scored in the 2-1 league defeat at the Alfrdo di Stefano stadium in Valdebebas. 

Next season will mark the 120th anniversary of the fixture as the rivalry began on 13 May 1902 with a victory for FC Barcelona in the semi-finals of the Coronation Cup. Udo Steinburg wrote his name into history with two goals in the 3-1 win, the other coming from Barça founder Joan Gamper.
