Barça 2-2 Liceo: Points shared

The two big rivals meet in Europe and play out a draw in Luso

The two biggest domestic rivals played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Pavilhão de Luso in the first game of the group stage. Ignacio Alabart and Pau Bargalló were on target for the blaugranes with Dava Torres and César Carballeira on target for the Galicians.

All eyes will now be on Saturday's Liceo-Benfica game with the blaugranes facing Benfica on Sunday in the hunt for first place in the group and a place in the Final Four.

Edu Castro's team were up against it initially as Dava Torres gave Liceo a deserved lead after just six minutes of action.

A great individual effort from Ignacio Alabart levelled things up for Barça on 12 minutes. Before half time Bargalló turned in a pass from Helder Nunes to hand Barça a 2-1 lead.

The second half began with chance for both teams but it was not until the 43rd minute that César Carballeira scored from the spot for Liceo to make it 2-2. Chances for Adroher and Helder Nunes brought good saves from keepers Egurrola and Grau and meant the game ended in a draw.

Avoiding defeat was vital for Edu Castro's team as attention now turns to Sunday's clash with Benfica.
