FC Barcelona go for their 14th Spanish Super Cup

Thanks to the win against Real Sociedad, the blaugranes earn a place in Sunday's final, their first under the new competition format

Into the final. Barça moved past Real Sociedad in the semi finals of the Spanish Super Cup to book a place in Sunday's final in Seville where they will face the winner of the second semi final on Thursday between Athletic Club and Real Madrid.

The blaugranes are in with a chance of winning the competition for the 14th time in their history. Barça have won the Spanish Super Cup more than any other club in Spanish Football, their closest rivals being Real Madrid who have 11 wins. The last time Barça claimed the trophy was in 2019 when they beat Sevilla in the final.

Barça are in the final for the first time under the new format which sees four teams take part in the tournament; the two finalists from the Copa del Rey and the top two teams from La Liga. Last season saw the first edition of the 'Final Four' style design with the blaugranes losing in the semi finals against Atlético Madrid.
