Barça Women 5-0 Espanyol Women: Historic win at Camp Nou

Derby victory in the first women's game to be played at the stadium for half a century

On the historic day that the Barça Women played at Camp Nou, fifty years after gracing the stage for the first time, they won the derby against Espanyol by a clear 5-0 with goals from Alexia, Marta Torrejón, Melanie Serrano, Lieke Martens and Ana Crnogorcevic, to stay top of table with 33 points, and with three games in hand as well.

Blaugrana dominance

Mariona, Crnogorcevic, Aitana Bonmatí and Torrejón had all had chances before the visitors finally tested Barça keeper Paños. Serrano then almost scored from a free kick, Mariona hit the post and at long last the deadlock was finally broken when Alexia became the first woman to score at Camp Nou for half a century.

Majestic second half

The goals may not have comes in the first half but after the restart they didn’t stop. Torrejón pounced on a defensive rebound to finish a fine team move, and Serrano made it three just moments later with a powerful strike from the edge of the area to celebrate her 17th season with the team.

Hermoso hit the crossbar shortly before substitute Martens headed in from an angle to make it four. Crnogorcevic completed the rout by deflecting a María León shot goalward.
