This morning the committee for negotiation has been formally constituted for the beginning of the procedure to substantially modify the collective labour condition and the regulation of temporary work, consisting of representatives from the management and representatives of the FC Barcelona workforce.
In this constitutive session of the committee, the management representatives outlined the Club's financial and economic situation as well as the impact of the Covid-19 crisis. The effects of the pandemic in this current season is much more notable than in the previous season, as that was affected only in the final three month period of April to June. The current season will feel the effects during the whole campaign and as such the negative impact will multiply exponentially. The Club predicts a fall in revenue of greater than 30% and in consequence, it is obliged to find immediate solutions to reduce expenditure.
The constituting of this labour negotiating committee takes in this series of measures that the Club has been implementing over the last few months and that have helped to reduce management costs and salary costs for all professional sports. The Club's objective is to reach an agreement with the organisation's entire labour force, which takes in a joint solution of temporary, gradual, proportional salary adjustments, specific to each collective.
Given the importance of the decisions that have to be taken to guarantee the sustainability of the Club during the time in which we are affected by the pandemic, the Club remains open to the incorporation of players' agents to this negotiating committee, which fulfils the established legal requirements in accordance with article 41.4 of the Workers' Statute. The constitution of this committee, which has to be unique, will allow the taking of decisions in accordance with the needs of each collective, a wish already shared with the professional players.
All in all, it will contribute, surely, to the fulfilment of this season's budget and, at the same time, set standards to face as best we can the great challenges ahead once the global health crisis has been overcome.
