Barça 39-22 Viveros Herol BM Nava: Victorious debut at the Palau

The winning streak continues into the new season as handball finally returns to the arena

203 days had passed since the Barça handball team last graced the Palau and it was a winning return on Saturday against Viveros Herol BM Nava (39-22), with Mortensen leading the way with eight goals, with Fernando Barbeito again standing in for Xavi Pascual as coach and Dolenec returning to the team.

It was the first handball game in the pavilion since the one with MOL Pick Szeged back on February 29, and the absence of fans didn’t do anything to hamper the blaugrana’s typically dominant play. Leading 20-12, they already had this one in the bag at half-time.

It was also announced today that five of the team were named in the Asobal All-Star VII for 2019/20: Entrerríos, Dika Mem, Aleix Gómez, Fabregas and Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas.

Next up is the second Champions League group match at home to Celje Pivovarna on Thursday at 8.45pm CEST.
