Suárez eager to end Liga on a winning note

Uruguayan striker insists that if Barça don't win the league "there can be no excuses, our fate was in our own hands"

Luis Suárez has discussed the latest goings-on at the club in an interview with local sports dailies Sport and Mundo Deportivo, saying that “Barça must win our last two Liga games for the sake of pride and prestige,” while taking a self-critical look at the way the title race has gone.

Personal feelings

“I have come back from injury full of enthusiasm and keen to help the team”.

“It was difficult to return as I did, following lockdown. Training at home is not the same as being as the club with the physio Juanjo”.

“I am aware that my playing time needs to be regulated. I mustn’t be headstrong and expect to play all the time”.

La Liga

“The way we played in Villarreal is the right one if you want to win trophies. We need to be self-critical about things and prepare ourselves for things to come”.

“We knew our fate was in our own hands, so there can be no excuses”.

“Barça must win our last two Liga games for the sake of pride and prestige and then switch our focus to the Champions League”.

Champions League

“We need to be ready for a tough battle to win the Champions League. We need to start by focusing 1,000% on Napoli and then whoever we might meet after”.

“Physically and technically, this team knows how to fight when we have to”.

Leo Messi

“I can’t imagine Leo Messi in any other team apart from Barça”.

Ladislao Kubala

Kubala made history at this club. I’m just another player”.

“I am proud to have found a place in club history. I was very happy to be in the top ten goalscorers of all time, while being in the top 3 is truly comforting with an eye to the future and helps me to appreciate the job I have done for the club I always wanted to play for”.

“I don’t think I ever imagined myself breaking that record. I just came here hoping to help the team”.
