Stat of the Day: 26 | League titles

FC Barcelona's current dominance has brought 10 LaLiga titles in the past 15 seasons

Barça have managed to win LaLiga on 26 occasions, with just over 30% of their league triumphs coming in the past 11 years. In that time, the club have lifted the trophy 8 times, as well as winning 10 of the last 15.

FC Barcelona win the first ever league title

On February 12, 1929, a new competition began. LaLiga ran for 4.5 months, and FC Barcelona were the first champions, claiming 25 points. They had a 2-point advantage over closest rival Real Madrid. However, at the time the competition was seen as inferior in prestige compared to the Copa del Rey.

César and Kubala increase the honours for the club

It would take 16 years before the club would win another league title. After the Spanish Civil War, they regrouped and made their way back to the top of the table. The goalscoring exploits of César Rodríguez and the arrival of Ladislao Kubala were determining factors in Barça's success. In 1951/52 FC Barcelona won five competitions: LaLiga, the Copa, the Copa Latina, the Copa Eva Duarte and the Copa Martini Rossi.

Johan Cruyff makes Barça a household name

Barça history can be divided into pre-Cruyff's arrival and post-Cruyff's arrival. The Dutchman revolutionised the club twofold. As a player, he helped the Blaugrana to win LaLiga in his first season -a first league title in 14 years. In his time as a coach, he put together one of the best teams in the history of football: The Dream Team. They won four consecutive titles (1990/91, 1991/92, 1992/93 and 1993/94) and Cruyff capped his time in the dugout with the club's first European Cup win, in 1992.

Two league titles with Van Gaal

After a 39-year spell without a double, Louis van Gaal's Barça achieved the feat with the league and Copa del Rey in 1997/98. His second season saw him win LaLiga for a second consecutive time. Van Gaal handed debuts to many players from the youth system, including future legends Xavi and Carles Puyol.

1.5 decades of dominance

The greatest sporting successes for the club have come in the decade and a half up to the present day, coinciding with the emergence of Leo Messi. Before him, however, Ronaldinho captured the imagination of fans and helped the club to two consecutive LaLiga titles (2004/05 and 2005/06) under Frank Rijkaard. In Pep Guardiola's first season as coach, FC Barcelona won their first treble (2008/09), and in 2009 they earned an historic sextuple. With Guardiola at the helm, Barça won three league titles (2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11).

Guardiola's time in charge came to an end in 2012, but Barça would continue to win silverware with Tito Vilanova, who claimed the LaLiga title in his only season as coach (2012/13). With Luis Enrique, FC Barcelona won another treble and then two leagues (2014/15 and 2015/16). The most recent two LaLiga honours came under Ernesto Valverde (2017/18 and 2018/19).
