On this day...La Liga champions with Frank Rijkaard!

14 May 2005 saw Barça claim their first league title in six seasons and a first under the Dutch coach with a draw at Levante

Saturday 14 May 2005 and Frank Rijkaard's Barça team were crowned league champions. The Club's 17th La Liga title came after a draw in the Ciutat de València stadium against Levante which gave FC Barcelona a first league championships since 1999. 

That night in Valencia Frank Rijkaard's team celebrated the first of two consecutive league titles, the second of which was accompanied by a victory in the Champions League final against Arsenal in Paris. 

Against Levante Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto'o scored Barça's equaliser on the hour mark to hand the blaugranes the league title with still one game to play. 

Not the first title celebrated in the Ciutat de València 

It is no the only time that Barça have celebrated the La Liga title at the home of Levante. Just a few days ago we looked back at the second time the blaugranes sealed the league title at the Ciutat de València in 2011. 

The season 2004/05 under Rijkaard was a turning point for the club as it saw the debut of one Leo Messi and it marked the beginning of a run of 10 league titles in 15 seasons.
