Netflix launches Barça documentary series ‘Matchday’ in Latin America and Canada

The documentary series that follows the world-renowned football team premiered on Netflix on April 29

Netflix, the world's leading streaming entertainment service, debuted ‘Matchday’ on April 29 in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay, among other countries in Latin America, and Canada. The documentary series created by Barça Studios, includes previously unseen footage of the first team’s day-to-day lives.

Thanks to this new partnership between Barça and Netflix, fans will be able to enjoy eight 45-minute episodes centered around eight key games played in the 2018/2019 season. TV cameras were given unprecedented access to the first team’s dressing room to record everyday moments in the lives of players such as Leo Messi, Luis Suárez, Marc-André ter Stegen, Gerard Piqué, Arthur Melo and Arturo Vidal.

 A Barça Studios Production

Matchday was launched last November 29 in Japan and Europe on the Rakuten TV video-on-demand service, and the company also holds the right for broadcasting in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and United States, but FC Barcelona reserved the right for transmission in Latin America and Canada, and in Africa and the Middle East too.

The series is produced by Barça Studios, which now centralises all of FC Barcelona’s creation, production and marketing of audiovisual content, and which is already working on the second season
of the series.

The series was produced in conjunction with Kosmos Studios and Producciones del Barrio.
