Orihuela 0-0 Barça B: Another game ends scoreless

Reserves now four points behind league leaders Castellón after a frustrating 90 minutes in Alicante

Barça B have drawn 0-0 for the second time in a row, this time against Orihuela and against just ten men for the last half hour after Luis Gilabert was sent off for the home side for a second bookable offence. Barça had the chances but failed to make them count, and are now on 46 points, still just four off leaders Castellón.

Ilaix Moriba and Guillem Jaime could both have scored early, and Riqui Puig set up a beauty of a chance for Albanian Rei Manaj. Orihuela took their time to get going, but started causing danger as the game progressed, and Chechu Flores almost had it when he half-volleyed onto the bar.

The second half was more relentless from both sides, and the best of many chances fell to Manaj, while youth player Gerard had a couple of close efforts but luck just wasn’t accompanying the blaugrana today.

Injury time produced no end of drama. Iñaki Peña had to make a spectacular from a corner, and Monchu and Araujo both came close to winners at the other end, but it all ended scoreless.

The next game for the reserves is at the Estadi Johan Cruyff against Llagostera on Sunday 8 March at 6.00pm CET.
