Barça 7-1 Sarzana: Into the Euro quarters

With a game in hand, the Catalans are already assured of a place in the knockout stages of the European League

Barça have cruised to a seven-goal victory to secure first place in European League Group C, and thus win their place in the last eight of the biggest tournament in the continent. Sarzana were no match for a side that now has 13 points thanks to a brace from each of Pau Bargalló, Matias Pascual and Pablo Álvarez plus one from Joao Rodrigues ho han fet possible.

With the first goal coming after just two minutes there only ever looked like being one winner, and that was confirmed when the Catalans led 4-0 at the interval. The superiority was confirmed after the restart, although the Italians did manage one consolation goal.

Pablo Álvarez scored the last of the seven, meaning he tops the scoring in the competition with 11 goals. The final game against Germania Herringen is now a formality, and in the meantime it’s back to the domestic championship next Sunday 19 February against Corredor-Mató CH Palafrugell (9.00pm CET).
