Barça 84-80 Armani Milano: Epic win at the Palau

A great personal performance from Delaney helped Barça to a well-earned win at the Palau

Barça earned a super win against Armani Milano (84-80) at the Palau Blaugrana on Friday night. Delaney, with 26 points and a valuation of 37, was the best player, and a key element in the victory.

The match started off well for the hosts, Mirotic scoring nine points in eight minutes to ease Pesic's side ahead (19-8). However, the visitors rallied before the end of the first quarter (23-17). Heurtel injured his left ankle in the second quarter, and then two three-pointers from the visitors saw the Italians turn the score on its head (28-30). Worse was to follow as Milan scored 13 points without reply, and took the score up to 31-43. A Claver triple and a Delaney basket cut the deficit before half-time (36-45).

Tight to the end

Mirotic and Delaney, the latter with a series of three pointers, got the Palau rocking (52-50), and Barça were four points ahead as they entered the last quarter (63-59). Both sides went all out for the win, and a constant exchange of baskets kept things in the balance. Delaney's two spectacular three-pointers again gave the Catalans some breathing space, and it was just about enough to keep the visitors at bay. Next up for the blaugranes are Herbalife Gran Canaria on Sunday (6.30pm CET).
