The Blaugrana host the side from Madrid looking for the victory that will see them into the Copa del Rey quarter-finals

Thursday evening’s Copa del Rey, Round of 16 game is a winner-take-all affair, with everything to be decided at the Camp Nou. 

It’s the first time the two teams have met in the cup competition, but Leganés have visited the Camp Nou on three previous occasions and lost each time.

Leganés have already beaten Andorra in a penalty shootout, Murcia (0-4) and Ebro (0-1) to get this far. Since the arrival of new coach, Javier Aguirre, the team from Madrid have lost just three times in 11 games. Their top scorers are Martin Braithwaite and Óscar Rodríguez, with six and four goals, respectively.

The precedents

The last match between the two teams came in the league two months ago. Barça went behind to a goal from En-Nesyri, but goals from Suárez and Vidal won the match (1-2). In the seven matches played against other to date, Barça have won six and lost one, scoring 19 and conceding seven.
