Griezmann returns to Anoeta

The French forward will square off against his first professional club when Barça meet Real Sociedad this weekend

Antoine Griezmann has a homecoming of sorts coming up this weekend. On Saturday at 4pm CET, Barça play Real Sociedad, the club at which the Frenchman spent his formative years before joining Atletico Madrid and, subsequently, moving to FC Barcelona this past summer.

During his five seasons as part of the first team at 'La Real', from 2009 to 2014, Griezmann scored a total of 52 goals. Some 32 of those strikes came at the scene of this weekend's match: Anoeta. He will be looking to get on the scoresheet again there in LaLiga, but this time for the away side.

The forward has experience of scoring at Anoeta as a visitor, having done so in 2015/16 for Atletico Madrid in a 0-2 win in San Sebastian. Against Real Sociedad he has found the net on four occasions, with two of the other goals coming at the Vicente Calderón and one at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Coincidentally, Griezmann also got on the scoresheet in this weekend's fixture. During his time at Real Sociedad he racked up three goals against FC Barcelona -all three at Anoeta. His first was in 2011/12, in a 2-2 draw in LaLiga. Two seasons later, in 2013/14, he was on target in two cosecutive games: One in the Copa del Rey (1-1) and one in LaLiga (3-1).
