Excellent record against Aguirre

The Mexican coach has taken over at Barça's next opponent, Leganés. And history is very much on the blaugrana side

Following a week off for internationals, Barça travel to Leganés this weekend. The Madrid-based ‘cucumber growers’ have got off to a poor start in the league, and have drafted in the services of coach Javier Aguirre in a quest to climb away from the bottom of the table.

The Mexican, whose last position was as manager of the Egyptian national team, is a familiar face in La Liga, most recently at Espanyol from 2012 to 2014, a side that Barça boss Ernesto Valverde has also coached in the past.

History is on Barça’s side. Of 21 meetings with teams coached by Aguirre, only two have ended in defeats. Valverde also has a positive record in encounters between the managers.
