De Jong v De Jong at Camp Nou

Two Dutch international team-mates with the same surname meet in Sunday's clash between Barça and Sevilla

This Sunday (9.00pm CET), we have an absolute cracker of a game lined between two of the top sides in La Liga, currently locked on 13 points each.

The many attractions include a game with De Jong playing for both sides. Frenkie of Barça and Luuk of Sevilla joined their respective clubs this summer.

The international team-mates and namesakes will be going head to head for the first time in this competition, but they have done so plenty of time before in Holland, Frenkie with Ajax and Luuk with their rivals PSV. And after this fixture, they will both be heading off for games against Northern Ireland and Belarus in the Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Having players with the same surnames is hardly unusual in La Liga, with such an abundance of names like Rodríguez, Fernández and García, but although two Uruguayans (our Luis Suárez and Damián Suárez of Getafe) did face each other the other day, it’s far less common the case of foreigners.
