Barça and its projected breaking of the €1 billion barrier feature in international press

Daily Mail, BBC, Bleacher Report, L’Equipe and Reuters, AP and AFP agencies among media publishing the story

The leading international media have been reporting in recent hours on the latest financial results presented by FC Barcelona, which close the financial year for the 2018/19 season with income of 990 million euros and that for 2019/20 is forecasting record results in the world of sport, breaking the €1 billion barrier.

At a press conference on Thursday in the Auditori 1899, the vice-president and treasurer for the board of directors, Enric Tombas, had the honour of presenting details of the accounts for 2018/19, while the CEO, Òscar Grau, presented the budget for next season, which forecasts revenue of €1,047 million euros. 

The impact on the international media includes the British  Daily Mail, headlining with the news of the forecast and quoting Mr Grau in relation to the different operations and negotiations during the summer market, while the BBC also cites the Barça business figures and the projections for the coming season.  

 The biggest sports daily in France, L’Équipe, states that “FC Barcelona forecasts record turnover of a thousand million euros”, while the US sports website Bleacher Report proclaims that “Barcelona’s 2019 Budget Reveals Biggest Income in World Sports, $1B Expenditure”. The Washington Post and  Miami Herald, also run stories on the Barça forecast, highlighting the fact that this is the first time a sports club has ever achieved such a figure.

The news has also been picked up by the main international news agencies, such as Reuters in the UK, the Associated Press in the US and Agence France-Presse, as well as American sports news channel ESPN, the Yahoo website and many more.
