Caldes 3-4 Barça: Catalan champs as Egurrola sets new record

Roller hockey goalkeeper wins 72nd official title for blaugrana, setting a club record in any sport

Barça have won the roller hockey Catalan league title, and that’s a big deal in itself, but it was an even bigger deal for one man: Aitor Egurrola.

The 4-3 overtime win over Caldes was an astonishing 72nd official senior trophy for Egurrola at FC Barcelona, meaning that he has now beaten fellow goalie (but in handball) David Barrufet to become the person to have won the most official titles in a blaugrana jersey.

The game itself was a lively one, with Bargalló and Matias Pascual putting Barça 2-up early doors, but Xavi Rovira soon pegged one back for Caldes.

The defences had the upper hand from then on, with Egurrola outstanding in goal, but Ignacio Alabart finally got things moving again on 34 minutes.

Barça then had plenty chances to wrap things up but Caldes found new life, and new goals, and the game went into overtime at 4-4.

Matias Pascual secured things with a spectacular aerial strike, and the Catalan League trophy was ours gain, for what is now the sixth time.
