Victor Valdés' U19A side will open the new Johan Cruyff Stadium with a match against Ajax

A great day for FC Barcelona. Today the new Estadio Johan Cruyff, the first part of the new Espai Barça, is inaugurated at the Ciutat Esportiva. Thus, the new home for Barça B, U19A and Barça Women will be formally opened, the 6,000 capacity stadium taking the place of the Miniestadi, which was opened in 1982.

It will be a day loaded with events. There will be a fiesta outside, an opening ceremony and a match between the U19 teams from Barça and Ajax, two clubs that are most closely linked to Johan Cruyff. It will serve as the starting point for a stadium that marks a new era for FC Barcelona and its football teams.

Here is the schedule for the inauguration:

6.30pm CEST. Start of the fiesta outside on the esplanade

7.30pm CEST. Opening of stadium doors

8.30pm CEST. Inauguration ceremony of the Johan Cruyff Stadium on the pitch

9.00pm CEST. Start of the match between the youth players of FC Barcelona and Ajax Amsterdam

10.45pm CEST. End of the match

A new test for U19A

Pre-season for the team led by Victor Valdés was very hectic. After starting at Vall d'en Bas, they traveled to Russia where they played a double friendly match against Zenit. Subsequently, they played the Otten Cup in Eindhoven and the Portugalete Tournament. With this match against Ajax Amsterdam, to open the new Johan Cruyff Stadium, the U19A side will be able to continue preparing for a demanding start in the league against Cornella on Sunday, September 8.
