Barça touch down in the United States

After a nine-hour flight to Miami, the Blaugranes get settled at their first stop; two matches with Napoli await, one in South Florida, and the other in Michigan later in the week

MIAMI, Florida — FC Barcelona arrived at Miami International Airport on Monday afternoon at around 5pm local time (1.00am CET) following a nine-hour flight from Barcelona to Miami, where the team will play the first of two games against Napoli.

Barça's first preseason contest in the USA takes place at 7.30pm local time on 7 August, and the second game against the Italian side will be held in Ann Arbor on 10 August (5.00pm local time)

Travelling alongside the squad were several club representatives, headed by President Josep Maria Bartomeu. Directors Jordi Moix, Javier Bordas and Marta Plana, Cultural Delegate Teresa Basilio, and CEO Òscar Grau are among those making the trip.

Coach Ernesto Valverde announced a 26-man squad for the second preseason tour of the summer, which provides a final test for the players before the LaLiga campaign gets underway against Athletic Club.

Prior to departing for the United States, Barça trained in the morning in Barcelona, just hours after beating Arsenal in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday night at Camp Nou. After the Monday morning workout, the coaching staff released the list of the 26 players called upon for the two friendlies against Napoli, which are the team's final matches before opening La Liga play against Athletic Club Bilbao on August 17. Leo Messi did not make the list after suffering an injury in his first training session of the preseason.
