Barça activate Cucurella buy-back clause

FC Barcelona exercise right to repurchase the player from Eibar for a fee of 4 million euros

FC Barcelona has exercised its option to repurchase Marc Cucurella for 4 million euros after the left-back impressed as he spent last season on loan to Eibar. The Basque club exercised its option to buy the player at the end of the 2018/19 season for 2 million euros.

Cucurella went to Eibar in order to gain more playing experience at the top level. The product of the Barça youth system has done just that, playing 33 games, 31 in the league and 2 in the cup, and scoring one goal in each competition. Curiously, the league goal was scored in the last game of last season against Barça at Ipurúa. He scored his cup goal in the round of 32 against Sporting Gijón.

54 games for Barça B

Marc Cucurella played 54 games for the Barça reserves across two seasons. While still an U19 age player, he was part of the team that won promotion back to the second division, and in La Liga 123, he played 37 games and scored one goal. He made his official first team debut in the Copa del Rey against Real Murcia on 24 October 2017 and joined the first team on the Barça US Tour by Rakuten 2018.
