2019/20 preseason begins on Sunday

Fitness and medical tests are on the schedule for the first day back at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground

The 2019/20 season starts rolling into action on the morning of July 14, bright and early at 9.00am CET, with the first fourteen first team players due back for duty, along with five from Barça B.

Work will begin with the routine medical and fitness examinations, which won’t be necessary in the case of the new signings, who have already done the tests and won’t be reporting for duty until the day after, Monday 15, when Ernesto Valverde will be ready to run the first training session at 9.30am.

The manager will be spending a week with those players in preparation for the trip to Japan on July 20 for the two Rakuten Cup games against Chelsea and Vissel Kobe.

The players that were on duty at the Copa América in Brazil will be given some extra time to relax and will be rejoining their team-mates later on in the preseason.

The first team players due to start work this Sunday are Ter Stegen, Semedo, Piqué, Rakitic, Sergio Busquets, Todibo, Dembélé, Rafinha, Malcom, Lenglet, Jordi Alba, Sergi Roberto, Aleñá and Umtiti.

The Barça B players that will be training with the first team during this initial period of the preseason are Iñaki Peña, Oriol Busquets, Collado, Riqui Puig and Carles Pérez.
