Agreement in principle to sign Brandon Davies

BYU graduate, pending medical, to join for two seasons from Lithuanian outfit Zalgiris Kaunas

Barça and Brandon Davies have reached an agreement, pending his medical, to sign the centre born in Philadelphia but raised in Utah for the next two seasons, until 30 June 2021.

The 2.08 metre 27-year-old arrives after two seasons at Zalgiris Kaunas in Lithuania. H is a notable mobile, athletic player, very quick on the court, strong on the rebound and dangerous on the paint.

Euroleague Top 5

Davies has just completed an exceptional season at Zalgiris, averaging 14.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in 24 minutes a game as he helped the Lithuanians to eighth place in the Euroleague. His performances won him a place in the All-EuroLeague First Team, alongside Calathes, Sloukas, Clyburn and Vesely.

It was a big step up from his rookie season in European basketball, where he posted 9.3 points and 3.5 rebounds. He’s also won two Lithuanian leagues and one cup.

Background

A graduate of Brigham Young, he played for the BYU Cougars from 2009 to 2013, playing 135 games and averaging 12.4 points and 6.2 rebounds. In his final season, he captained the side and scored 17.7 a game.

After gaining NBA experience with the 76ers and Brooklyn between 2013 and 2015, he decided to give Europe a try. His first port of call was Élan Chalon in France, where he played just eight games before leaving for Varese in Italy and then returning to the French championship, this time with Monaco in 2016/17. His excellent form earned interest from Zalgiris Kaunas in the summer of 2017, and after two years in the Baltic state, we welcome him to FC Barcelona.
