Semedo, Nations League champion

Portugal defeated a Netherlands team featuring Cillessen and De Jong in the final

The Nations League is Portuguese. And, therefore, FC Barcelona player Nélson Semedo ends the tournament as winner. The blaugrana, a starter with his national team, helped beat the Netherlands of Cillessen and De Jong in the final.

An intense game was decided by a solitary goal from Guedes, however, chances were fairly constant. The first half was dominated by the Portuguese, but Cillessen was equal to anything that came his way. A shot by Semedo was deflected out of harms way by Van Dijk to ensure it was goalless at the break.

The script changed in the second half, especially after Guedes' goal (1-0, min 60). The Dutch began to press more but, in the end, couldn't find a way through. It meant that Fernando Santos' side, the current European champions, now add the UEFA Nations League to their list of titles, and thus, Semedo has one more title for his own personal collection.
