Futsal to become new Barça Escola section for 2019/20 season

It is the Club's third professional sport to have a development academy, after football and basketball

The Barça Escola, the multi-sports academy of FC Barcelona, will have a new futsal section next season. It will be the Club's third professional sport to have a development academy, after football, which has been around for 15 years, and basketball, which opened in 2016.

The new futsal academy will be for children 6 to 11 years of age, born from 2008 to 2014, and the training sessions will be held at the INEFC Barcelona. Like with other sports, athletes will train twice per week for an hour each — from 6pm to 8pm — and will play in an intramural league in the futsal pavilion at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on the weekends. The Barça Escola expects to have around 150 players the first season.

It is also planned for players to take part in local and international tournaments, and to play against other clubs, as well as participate in other activities in the Palau Blaugrana throughout the season.

The futsal activities will be linked to the Barça Academy project, since they have been held around the world in the form of Barça Academy Camps for several years in places like Australia, the United States, Japan, and Thailand.

Access tryouts will be held on Sunday, June 2 at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper from 5pm to 7pm.
