The end of a historic streak in the cup

Four consecutive final wins in the Copa del Rey remain a record to be proud of

FC Barcelona were unable to defeat Valencia in the Copa del Rey final at Benito Villamarín, thereby ending the streak of four consecutive cup final wins, a feat that had only previously been achieved by Real Madrid (between 1905 and 1908) and Athletic Club (between 1930 and 1933).

Six consecutive finals

The final played on Saturday was Barça's sixth in succession, a historic record in the knockout competition and one that was reached after playing 24 ties without defeat over two legs.

24 ties without losing

FC Barcelona's last Copa del Rey defeat over two legs came in the semifinals of the 2012/13 season against Real Madrid. Since then, and without counting the finals, Barça have gone 24 ties without losing. It's an ongoing milestone that will be continued next season, and allows Barça to continue to make history in the cup.
