Leo Messi, scorer in six cup finals

The Argentinian achieved a new record in the competition, after his goal against Valencia saw him surpass Telmo Zarra

Leo Messi has achieved a new record. With his goal against Valencia in the Benito Villamarín, the Argentinian became the only player in the history of the Copa del Rey to have scored in six different finals. It means that Barca's No.10 has taken another of Telmo Zarra's records, and he ends the season with 51 goals in all competitions.

It's also the third consecutive cup final in which Messi has found the net after the goals against Alavés (2017) and Sevilla (2018). Only four players have managed the feat: Manuel Prast, Telmo Zarra - the only one to do it in four consecutive editions -, Ferenc Puskás and Neymar.

It should be also noted that the defeat on Saturday is the first final in which Messi has scored and Barça haven't gone on to win the title.
