Ten years since 6-2 win at Bernabéu

Today 2 May 2019 is not just a day for celebrating the majestic 3-0 defeat of Liverpool in the Champions League but also the passing of a decade since another historic night for FC Barcelona.

It was on 2 May 2009 that Barça conquered the Santiago Bernabéu in spectacular fashion with a 6-2 victory, marshalled by Josep Guardiola and that sent shockwaves around of the footballing planet.

Thierry Henry and Leo Messi both scored two that famous night, while Carlos Puyol and Gerard Piqué claimed that goal that totally overwhelmed the Real Madrid side coached at the time by Juande Ramos.

For the record, the side that played that legendary night was as follows: Valdés, Dani Alves, Puyol, Piqué, Abidal, Touré Yaya (Bojan, min 85), Iniesta (Sergio, min 85), Xavi, Henry (Keita, min 60), Messi and Eto’o.
