Bayern 0–1 Barça Women: First blood to the blaugrana

Hamraoui's second-half goal against Bayern gives Lluis Cortés' team the advantage going into the second leg

Barça Women achieved a vital win in the women's Champions League semifinal first leg, after overcoming Bayern Munich thanks to a goal by Hamraoui in the 62nd minute. It was a match in which Barça were superior but despite their strength, Däbritz would've given the hosts a share of the spoils if her direct free-kick hadn't hit the crossbar in the 89th minute.

The game began with the locals on the attack, Damnjanović and Rolfö looking particularly dangerous. However, Lluís Cortés' side weathered the early storm and, little by little, took hold of the game.

Control

In the 21st minute, a shot from Toni Duggan scuffed the post and, just afterwards, Hamraoui crashed a ball onto the crossbar with a shot that surprised Benkarth. Barça continued to apply pressure, and in the 33rd minute, Losada also hit the upright. It spurred the Bavarians into action, and five minutes later Paños foiled Däbritz to keep the scores level.

Reward

Finally, in the 62nd minute, Barça Women got their reward thanks to a low shot from Hamraoui, who finished off a pass by Mariona. Bayern were tiring, but still went close through Däbritz again with 17 to play. Thomas Wörle's team pushed hard for an equaliser late on and had the best chance of the game in the 89th minute, when Däbritz hit the bar with a delightful free-kick.

Barça Women will now have to finish the job in the return match at the Miniestadi (Sunday, April 28, 12.00pm CEST.)
