Sarah De Gannes called up to Trinidad and Tobago U17s

The FCBEscola Edmonton player is in her second season with the Canadian branch

FCBEscola Edmonton's Sarah De Gannes has become the first women’s player of the Canadian school to be called up to play for the U17s of a national team, after being selected by Trinidad and Tobago. At 14 years of age, De Gannes is in her second season at the Canadian school.

Local Project Director Sergi Pi says De Cannes is “very strong physically and with a very good touch of the ball. It is a big achievement to be part of the U17 team of her country, where she will play against athletes up to three years older than her”.

The Trinidad and Tobago team is preparing for the qualifying round of the Under-17 Women's World Championship in the CONCACAF Caribbean group later this year. De Gannes and her teammates have been placed in Group A, alongside the US Virgin Islands, Curacao and Grenada. The Caribbean finals will be held in Haiti. The U17 World Cup will take place in December 2018 in Uruguay, where the Trinidad and Tobago team will seek to be one of the sixteen participating teams.
