Barça on high alert ahead of Valladolid clash

This Wednesday at 20.30, FC Barcelona Intersport will play away to BM Valladolid for matchday 11 of the Asobal League. The men led by Xavi Pascual hope to maintain their unbeaten status this season but the challenge won’t be easy seeing that Valladolid’s court has always proved to be a difficult place to play for the Blaugrana.

Injury hit Barça hope to maintain top spot

The Blaugrana will take on BM Valladolid with the same team that beat Zaragoza and Szeged. Pascual will not be able to call on Tomás and Jernemyr who join Ariño and Balaguer on the injury list. Barça sit in a dominant position at the top of the Asobal table thanks to being the team that have conceded the least in the competition with 22 goals per match.

Better team than results might suggest

Cuatro Rayas BM Valladolid are a team used to enjoying a privileged spot near the top of the Asobal league table, but this season is different. This year they sit in the 15th position despite having defeated Fraikin Granollers and drawing away to Anaitasuna.

Barça have played away to Valladolid 20 times and they’ve lost 7 of those matches, drawn 2 and won 11. In fact, one of those victories came last season when Viran Morros gave the win to Barça with a last-second goal.
