Agreement to extend Pinto contract to June 30, 2014

The goalkeeper, whose contract expires at the end of the year, will be staying at FCB for an extra year

FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to extend goalkeeper José Manuel Pinto’s contract until June 30, 2014. He will be signing the contract over the next few weeks.

Five and a half years at Barça

Pinto came to Barça in the winter transfer window of 2007/08 in replacement for the seriously injured Albert Jonquera. He came on loan from Celta de Vigo, but was signed permanently the following season and has since been here for five and half years, making 54 official appearances.

Pinto has been the second choice to Victor Valdés under both Guardiola and Tito in Liga and Champions League matches, but he has been the regular first choice in the Copa del Rey, playing 34 matches and winning the title twice (2008/09 and 2011/12). In La Liga he has been limited to 14 games, and he has also featured in the Champions League on four occasions.

This season he has played in all three cup matches so far (both legs against Alavés and the first leg against Cordoba), plus one Champions League fixture against Benfica at the Camp Nou.
