History just on Barça’s side against Caja Laboral

Barça and Caja Laboral have met eight times in the final phase of the Copa del Rey, with five wins for the Catalans and three for the Basques The last three times they’ve met have been at the semi-final stage and Barça Regal won twice and lost once

Ahead of this Saturday’s semi –final, Barça just have the edge over Caja Laboral in meetings between the two at this phase of the Copa del Rey, with five wins to three.

The last three times the teams met were also in the semi –finals, with a 66-57 win for Barça in the 2011/12 competition held in Barcelona and a 92-73 win the year before in Madrid. The last defeat for Barça came in the 2008/09 semis, when they went down 77-90- Barça’s last defeat to the Basques.

The two have also met three times in the final and once in the quarter finals: in 2002/03 (in Valencia) Svetislav Pesic’s three pointer gave Barça a title winning 78-84 victory in over time, whilst in 2001/02 in Vitoria, Aito’s Barça went down 85-83 in the final. Nearly ten years before that, Caja beat Barça 86-75 in the 1993/4 final in Seville.

Before that final, the two had previously met in the 1992/93 competition in La Coruña when Barça lost 78-74 and in the 1990/91 finals in Zaragoza, when they won 98-78.
