FC Barcelona-Manchester City three weeks later: How the teams come into the Champions League match at the Camp Nou

Both sides have had difficulties reaching form since the first leg of the Champions League knock-out round at the Etihad

Three weeks have passed since the first leg of the Champions League knock-out tie between Manchester City and FC Barcelona. Since then, Manchester City and Barça have played three matches apiece with varying degrees of success.

City were eliminated from the FA Cup this Sunday at the Etihad at the hands of Wigan, a Football League Championship  team (1-2). The positive news for the Citizens was Kun Agüero’s return to the starting line-up – he missed the first leg against Barça due to injury.

The previous week, however, Manchester City claimed the Capital One Cup when they defeated Sunderland by 3-1. Their other match was in the Premier League against Stoke, the won 1-0.

In contrast, Barça have lost two of their three games since the first match against the English side. The first was away to Real Sociedad (3-1) and the second defeat was this weekend’s at the Nuevo José Zorrilla against Valladolid (1-0). The Blaugrana won their only home match, against Almeria, by 4 to 1.

On Wednesday Manchester City and FC Barcelona will face off in a do or die showdown that will determine which team will continue in the Champions League.
