Barça Alusport were made to sweat for their victory over Hospital Llevant Manacor. Two fantastics goals from Ortego and Lozano and two counterattacks finished off by Wilde, and another goal from Lozano gave Barça the three points. The home team struck back through Joselito, Taffy and Chico.
Barça kicked off the match with the clear intention of returning to their winning ways after they were eliminated from the Spanish Cup last week. Carmona’s men struggled to contain their rivals’ intensity – in fact, the best chance of the opening minutes fell to the home side, but Cristian responded with a splendid double save.
While Manacor were enjoying their best minutes on the court, Barça scored the opener. Adrián Ortego ran down the left wing and rifled the ball to the far post to score the go-ahead goal; Manacor responded by playing a keeper/player.
The tactical risked almost paid off for the home team, but Sergio Lozano doubled Barça’s lead. The forward beat two of his marks and fired the ball in between the keepers legs to make it 0-2.
Manacor surged forward in the second half but Cristian stood tall in goal. The Blaugranap, however, took advantage of the space left on defence by home team to increase their advantage. Lozano linked up with Wilde, who quickly made it 0-3. The home team hit back through Joselito, but Lozano, on another counterattack, reestablished Barça’s three-goal lead.
When things looked as though they were over, Manacor reacted. Taffy, through a double penalty, and Chico scored to make it 3-4 with minutes left on the clock. Barça managed their lead well, however, and protected their advantage to win the match.
