The new Barça Project has hit the headlines in Catalonia and the rest of the world, with the announcement of Luis Enrique’s appointment and the arrival of ter Stegen, Rafinha and Deulofeu hogging the headlines.
The ‘Mundo Deportivo’s front page headline is ”The Next Barça” and the paper dedicates an article to the three “hungry youngsters” the Club announced would be joining the squad next year. ‘Sport’ leads with “Luis Enrique signs Deulofeu” and inside explains: “Luis Enrique’s first decision is to bring back Rafinha and Deulofeu in a gesture to the academy”.
‘L’esportiu’ reckons Luis Enrique is : “Building from the Base” whilst in its inside pages it features pieces entitled: “The Rebuilding Begins” and “Character, intensity and analysis”. In the Spanish papers ‘El País’ goes with “Renewal arrives with Luis Enrique”), whilst ‘El Mundo’ claims: “Barça begin new era with Luis Enrique”).
Outside of Spain, the BBC Sports Site reckons “Enrique's arrival had been widely expected because of his strong links with the club”, whilst USA Today claims: Barcelona promised change, and delivered it quickly. By bringing in Luis Enrique as the team's new coach, Barcelona is returning to the philosophy of having a former player in charge”. The Independent, for their part, headline the story “Barcelona bring in Luis Enrique after barren campaign”.
Argentina’s Canchallena claims : “ Martino’s successor has signed for two years and will try and bring about a profound renewal in the squad” and in France, Le Figaro announced: “The iconic former FC Barcelona player will be officially presented on Wednesday. His challenge -to reach the summit again after a trophyless season”.
