The Penya Barcelonista de Col·leccionistes de Plaques de Cava (Cava Bottle-Top Collectors) celebrated their 20th anniversary on Saturday with their 6th commemorative meeting at the Camp Nou. The inauguration was attended by the director responsible for supporters clubs, Pau Vilanova; senator Josep Maldonado; the president of the Confraria del Cava Sant Sadurní, Toni de la Rosa Torelló, and the president of the Penya Barcelonista i de l’Associació de Col·leccionistes de Plaques de Cava, Àngel Gustà.
Some one hundred collectors, traders and friends gathered on the grandstand forecourt from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm to exchange tops.
Pau Vilanova said that “we have a very active supporters club that represents Barça’s connections with cava, such a typically Catalan product. And the proceeds from the meeting will go to charity, to a school in Chad”.
The event at the Camp Nou, part of an agreement between the Penya Barcelonista de Plaques de Cava and FC Barcelona included the presentation by Caves Torelló of a limited edition bottle (430 units) with a silver top. The proceeds from sales of the bottles are going to help build a new school in Chad.
The event concluded at 3.00 pm with lunch in the Hotel Catalonia Barcelona Plaza.
