FC Barcelona's last visit to Huelva

It was in the 2008/09 season. Guardiola was the manager and Messi and Keita scored in a 2-0 win Alves, Piqué, Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta , Pedro and Messi all remain from that treble-winning team

FC Barcelona’s last game at the Nuevo Colombino in Huelva was on November 16, 2008 in the historic season when they won the treble of Spanish Cup, Liga and Champions League. They’d also go on to add both the Super Cups and the Clubs World Cup to complete an unprecedented full house of all six trophies in the same calendar year.

It wasn’t such a great season for Recreativo though. They were relegated at the end of it, and haven’t played first division football since. So Saturday’s friendly will be the first time Barça have been to Huelva since a 2-0 away win that season. The Catalans dominated the play, and eventually came good with goals from Messi, following a craftily worked free kick, and Seydou Keita right at the end of the game with a fine strike from inside the area to beat goalkeeper Riesgo.

Alves Piqué, Busquets, Xavi and Messi, who six years later are all still at FCB, started that match, while Iniesta and Pedro were also in the first team squad at the time.
